Lost notifications on Android? That's how you get them back

Sometimes it happens that you wipe away a notification on Android in your rush. Sometimes apps can also remove notifications when they are updated. In this article, we explain how you can retrieve those deleted notifications.

If you have an Android device with an (almost) bare version of the operating system or use a Google Pixel or Android One device, you can easily retrieve erased notifications through a widget. You reach the widgets menu by tapping an empty spot on your home screen and holding down the screen. Then look up Settings (and if your phone is in English, choose Settings).

You place the widget by holding it and giving it a place on the home screen of your Android smartphone. When you have done this, a new screen will open with a few options. By scrolling down a little you will come across the Notification log option. If you have lost notifications, you can find them all in this logbook. If you choose the logbook, you will be returned to the home screen where the widget can now be found.

You can recognize the widget by the icon of a gear. If you tap it now, you will see an overview of notifications. The notifications that you have already opened have shades of gray. The removed notifications stand out because they are printed in bold. Furthermore, you can't do that much on this menu. When you tap on a notification, you will not end up in the app as it normally does. If you tap it now, you will see an overview of technical data.

Don't see the widget on your phone? Which can. Then you probably have a device from Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi or Sony. Fortunately, there are still options. If you have lost a notification on these devices, you can download an app for this. For example Notification History Log, NotificationLog and Unnotification. These apps are usually free and therefore have advertisements, but often also offer a premium option. You also need to give the apps access to your notifications, because otherwise, it cannot, of course, do its job. The app, unfortunately, reads those notifications. That is always something to keep in mind in the context of privacy
